Welcome to LE QUESNOY

Le Quesnoy, Town of History and major stopping-off point on the "Fortified Towns Trail", has preserved, in a setting of unspoilt nature, its XVIIth century fortifications erected by Vauban and his successors. These exceptional 100 hectares of what are today former defences at peace offer incomparable opportunities, for children and adults alike, for cultural visits and leisure activities and for study of the town's heritage. 15 km of signposted walks takes visitors around a succession of lakes and lagoons and offer intersating views of the ramparts and the many different varieties of trees planted on them. Le Quesnoy is in immediate proximity to the large estate forest in the region, the 10,000 hectares of the Mormal forest. The plateau of the Pays Quercitain, crssed by two leafy valleys, also lends itself to walks, cycle rides and horseriding.
